Volunteer Workday – Trail Prep for This Race is for the Birds!

Help PVAS prep the trails for This Race is for the Birds!
PVAS Host: KC Walters
Free and open to the public. For ages 16 and older. Registration is required.
PVMN Volunteer Hours Eligible
We will divide up into teams and tackle various portions of the race course. Tasks include clipping branches/roots, setting flags, removing leaves, and scooping poop. Bring your work gloves, a refillable water bottle, and any accessories that will help you stay comfortable! If possible, please bring your own hand tools such as clippers, shovels, lawn rakes, and leaf blowers.
You can register for a morning shift (10 am – noon) or an afternoon shift (1 pm – 3 pm) – or both!
- Walking Distance: About 1 mile
- Pace: Leisurely (meandering, many breaks to stop and work) to Moderate
- Exposure: Forested/dense canopy cover or open field
- Terrain: Hard ground/unmaintained running trail
- Restroom: No restroom
- Parking/Where to Meet: The group will meet at the front gate.
- What to Bring: Dress for the weather, bring water, have work gloves, and wear sturdy shoes! You may also want to consider bringing snacks. We will have some tools, but leaf blowers, rakes, loppers, and chainsaws may be useful to bring.
