Trail of Bones Family Night

Enjoy a Halloween hike on the “Trail of Bones” at Cool Spring Preserve!
PVAS Host: Amy Thomas
$10/person (PVAS members receive a 10% discount). All ages are welcome, though youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to 25 people per time slot. Youth 4 and younger may attend for free – there is no need to register them
After gathering at the back deck of the Case Nature Center, you will learn the basics of how to identify different skulls and have a chance to look at different furs and bones. After that, embark on a journey with your family or friends to explore our Trail of Bones! Along the way, you’ll encounter activity stations like the Creepy Crawlies, Musical Bones, Horns vs. Antlers and more! Finish your evening at our campfire, where we will provide marshmallows for you to roast and enjoy!
- Walking Distance: 0.5 – 1 mile
- Pace: Self-paced
- Exposure: Some areas are covered by forest canopy, some areas are open.
- Terrain: Hard ground/hiking trail in some areas, mowed grass in other areas.
- Restroom: Indoor, flushing restrooms will be available.
- Parking/Where to Meet: After parking in the gravel lot, go down the stairs next to the Case Nature Center. Check in at the back deck near the bottom of the stairs.
- What to Bring: Dress for the weather. Costumes are not required but are welcome! Bring a flashlight and any extra s’mores supplies you would like to use at the campfire. We will provide marshmallows.
