“This [Bird Walk] is for the Birds!” Special Event

Join Carol Winckler and Lynne Wiseman for a special bird walk to celebrate “This Race is for the Birds” at the Broomgrass Farm Community!
PVAS Hosts: Carol Winckler and Lynne Wiseman
$15/person (PVAS members receive a 10% discount). For ages 16 and older. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to 15 participants.
Broomgrass has a lot to offer from trails that wind through the woods, wide open vistas, broomgrass fields and excellent areas to access the shores of Back Creek. You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to bird on the trails of Broomgrass!
Participants should wear sturdy footwear, dress appropriately for the prevailing weather conditions, and bring along water. Binoculars will be available for anyone who needs them.
Please meet at the front gate of Broomgrass, the walk will last a couple of hours.
About Carol: Carol Winckler is a native of Western Illinois, and is a retired Elementary Physical Education Teacher from Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. Since the fall of 2016, she has been part of the C&O Canal Classroom Corps, who are retired teachers helping the park meet its education program requests with schools. In 2018, she became a West Virginia Master Naturalist with the local Potomac Valley Chapter. She has been a student and part of Potomac Valley Audubon’s Birding 101 class since 2007.
About Lynne: Lynne is a retired Realtor and has always had a curiosity about our feathered friends. She has been a member of PVAS for over 35 years and has been the board president. She has also become a Master Naturalist to expand her knowledge of all things nature and to share that knowledge with others by leading bird walks and teaching birding classes.
