StoryWalk® at Yankauer Nature Preserve

Enjoy a storybook on a nature walk at Yankauer Nature Preserve!

Free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, though youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required
A StoryWalk® is a great way for people of all ages to enjoy reading while spending time outdoors! Pages from a storybook will be attached to signs placed along a trail so people can gradually read the story as they walk the trail. This StoryWalk® will be spread over a trail length of no more than 1/4 mile.
The story at Yankauer Nature Preserve is Fairy Dusters and Blazing Stars: Exploring Wildflowers with Children, written by Suzanne M. Samson and illustrated by Preston Neel.
Yankauer Nature Preserve is open daily from dawn to dusk.
- Walking Distance: Less than a quarter mile
- Pace/Activities: Self-paced
- Exposure: Forested/dense canopy cover
- Terrain: Hard ground/hiking trail Gentle slopes/rolling hills
- Restroom: There are 2 composting toilets at Yankauer near the start of the trail
- Parking/Where to Meet: Yankauer Nature Preserve has about 20 parking spaces. The StoryWalk® will be along the Cedar Loop.
- What to Bring: Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water!
