Everyone is welcome to join this free, outdoor nature journaling gathering, regardless of their journaling experience. Please register below.
Observe and document summer’s emergence through Nature Journaling
Nature journaling is the process of going outside, paying attention to what we see, hear, smell and feel, and recording these observations, thoughts and questions about nature using a combination of words, pictures and numbers in a journal. Techniques may include writing and drawing, or photography, collage, and any other process that appeals to you.
With a goal of connecting deeply to our senses of wonder and curiosity, our focus is less about making pretty drawings or professional writing (although those sometimes happen, too), and more about reflecting our direct observations in nature.
Join us as we gather each month at a Potomac Valley Audubon Society nature preserve, or other local community space, and tap into our sense of awe.
What to bring:
-nature journaling supplies: a journal (blank book) and a pencil are most important
Other supplies include a favorite pen, colored pencils, watercolors and water, camera, and any other creative medium you enjoy
-a chair (if you’d like)
-water or other beverage to stay hydrated
-wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear, as we are outside the whole time
Whether you’ve been keeping journals for years, or a budding beginner, we welcome you to come out and put pencil to paper in the company of other enthusiasts.
