We invite all Master Naturalists and their families to attend this fun filled day at Yankauer Nature Preserve, however, registration is strongly encouraged. Please register below.

SCHEDULE (join us when you can):

8:30-10 am: Bird Walk – meet at the pavilion

10:00-11:30 am: Botany Walk with Rodney Dever of the WV Native Plant Society

11:30 am -12Noon: Kristin Alexander will discuss the history of Yankauer and the vision we have for its future

12 Noon: Lunch – BRING A COVERED DISH TO SHARE

1:00 – 3:00 pm: Those who register for this activity will build Mason Bee Houses

The PVMN Coordinating Committee will have the pre-ordered kits for the Mason Bee House, a chicken wire screen to keep birds out, glue, screws, tools and assistance.

If you would like to build a Mason Bee House, please use the registration form below to order and pay for your kit. We are limiting the kits to 10, so please order soon if you’d like to participate in this activity. The fee for the kits is $16.

The Mason Bee House looks like this:

The builder can then paint or stain the house later and be prepared for late winter/spring placement outdoors. Bee nesting materials such as the block shown are not included. The builder can select either reeds or a nesting block, sources for the nesting material will be given to the builders. The nesting material will not be needed until the bee house is set out in the spring. PVMN may have a source for wholesale pricing of the nesting materials.
