PVAS’s Founder’s Day Celebration
Sunday, July 10, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Help PVAS celebrate 40 years of memories and accomplishments during our Founder’s Day Open House!
This year PVAS is celebrating the 40th anniversary through special events and experiences, offering opportunities to reflect on accomplishments over the years, and looking ahead to our organization’s future.
We invite everyone to join us on Sunday July 10, from 10 am – 2 pm for our “Founder’s Day Open House” at the Yankauer Preserve in Berkeley County. Family-friendly activities will be featured such as a craft, a StoryWalk© and a scavenger hunt.
For adults, there will be a “PVAS History Trail ” featuring a timeline of PVAS’s 40 years and the conservation achievements of the organization. Two guided walks will also be offered by Ellen Murphy; one at 11am and one at 1pm. During the walk she’ll share some of her favorite memories of using Yankauer as an outdoor classroom during her time as PVAS Program Director. Cold drinks and refreshments will be provided and the entire event will be free of charge.
Yankauer has 2.4 miles of hiking trails with interpretive signs, a spacious outdoor pavilion, outdoor classroom/bird watching station, several pollinator gardens and eco-friendly composting toilets. PVAS hosts many events and workshops throughout the year at Yankauer, as well as summer camps and school programs for children.
