The Potomac Valley Audubon Society welcomes Jennifer Burghoffer (and her ambassador animals) as she presents a program from the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center; Wild Virginia!
Get up close and personal with the Wildlife Center’s ambassadors Eastern Screech Owl and Red-Tailed Hawk. Jennifer will be sharing information about the natural history of the species, their stories, how these species come to need rehabilitation and how our community can help wildlife stay wild.
Jennifer is the Education Program Manager at BRWC, and is also one of the Wildlife Rehabilitators on staff. She has been with the Center since November of 2011. She has a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from The Ohio State University.
The Blue Ridge Wildlife Center is a full-service wildlife hospital and rehabilitation center located in Boyce, VA. They admit more than 2,000 native wild animals each year for rehabilitation, of over 120 unique species. With the help of Wildlife Ambassadors, they provide educational programs to over 5,000 children and adults each year, focusing on the native species in our area, their natural history, and conservation issues. Through social media and a quarterly newsletter, BRWC strives to educate the community on wildlife and conservation issues, and promote stewardship of our wild neighbors and their habitats.
**The screech is sure to make an appearance, however the red-tail has been known to be a bit ornery and may decide he is a bit shy that evening.
This program is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
