Please join Dr. Laura Robertson for her workshop on mushrooms and microscopy at the Byrd Science Center at Shepherd University!
This workshop will begin with a brief overview of mushrooms and fungi, including the general growth, appearance, and life cycles of fungi and some examples of interesting fungi. Participants will then observe structures of mushrooms and other fungi both macroscopically and microscopically.
No previous microscopy experience expected; instruction will be provided.
The group will meet at the front door of the Byrd Science Center and will walk together to the classroom/lab.
As an associate professor in biology at Shepherd University, Dr. Robertson teaches microbiology, mycology, and introductory biology. She has lived on a farm in the Eastern Panhandle with her family (husband and two sons) for almost twenty years. Laura recently completed her Master Naturalist certification with the Potomac Valley Master Naturalists and is an avid art quilter.
