Monarch Tagging & Family Picnic Day @ Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary
Saturday, September 21, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Monarch Alliance is co-sponsoring a “Monarch Tagging & Family Picnic Day” with the Audubon Society of Central Maryland.
This will be a fun family day of Monarchs and citizen science! The event will provide an opportunity for people to see Monarchs up close as individual butterflies are tagged for the Monarch Watch Program.
More than 40 different species of butterflies have been observed at the Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary in Mt. Airy, MD. Participants will have a chance to explore the sanctuary, looking for and learning about butterflies.
Families are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful sanctuary grounds after the walk. Children will be able to learn more about the life cycle of the monarch and participate in a fun craft. People of all ages are welcome.
Participants should plan to meet at 9 a.m. at the entry gate to the sanctuary at 13030 Old Annapolis Road (just east of Detrick Road) in Mt. Airy. The walk will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
