Saturday, September 15, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

This event is free and open to the public, however, registration is strong encouraged. Please register below.
September is the month that most monarchs will migrate through our region on the way to Mexico where they will spend the winter. The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, is partnering with Briggs Animal Adoption Center’s 70th Anniversary Open House to provide monarch events and tagging.
The tagging will be ongoing throughout the day, open to the public and people can feel free to stop by anytime. There will be an open house of the facilities and related activities.
Learn about Briggs’ pollinator fields, come on monarch butterfly walks, tag and release monarchs. We will have bird walks, live caterpillars, monarch artwork, come in a butterfly costume, and more!
If you would like to volunteer to support this event, please contact Joette Borzik at pep4223@comcast.net.
Directions to the Center: from Charles Town, WV, take 340 South towards Berryville for approximately 5.4 miles. The Briggs Animal Adoption Center will be on the right (0.25 mile after the dual highway narrows down to a double lane road.)
The Monarch Discovery Day events will be free and open to anyone with an interest. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of cancellation, notice will be posted on the PVAS site by 9 p.m. the night before the event.
For further information, please feel free to contact Joette Borzik pep4223@comcast.net or 240-440-4221.
