September is the month that most monarchs will migrate through our region on the way to Mexico where they will spend the winter. The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, will be sponsoring activities during the month of September to celebrate this special event.
Join Sandy at the Antietam National Battlefield for a morning of tagging and releasing monarch butterflies. Participants should meet at the Burnside Bridge Parking Area. From there, Sandy will teach and help guide participants on the process of tagging and releasing monarchs.
The Monarch Discovery Day events will be free and open to anyone with an interest. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of cancellation, notice will be posted on the PVAS site by 9 p.m. the night before the event.
For further information, please feel free to contact Sandy Sagalkin at 240-291-6465 or sandy.sagalkin@gmail.com
