PVMN Re-Cert Eligible
September is the month that most monarchs will migrate through our region on the way to Mexico where they will spend the winter. The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, will be sponsoring activities during the month of September to celebrate this special event.
Visit the Catoctin Creek Nature Center and join their Monarch Butterfly Day Celebration.
Interactive youth activities about the butterflies and pollination will be offered throughout the day. The film, “Flight of the Monarch,” will be shown. The Frederick County Master Gardeners will demonstrate planting butterfly gardens. The event will feature a Bug Parade and Hunt. And help us in capturing, tagging and releasing monarchs as they leave for Mexico.
Please email erren@gmail.com or call 301-600-2015 to register. The program is free and welcomes families and people of all ages and cultures.
