The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, is sponsoring a workshop on Butterflies, Pollinators and Butterfly Garden Native Plants at Kiwanis Park, Hagerstown, on Saturday, August 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The City of Hagerstown, in partnership with The Monarch Alliance, planted a beautiful Monarch Waystation at the City of Hagerstown’s newest park. The waystation was planted with Monarchs and pollinators in mind and the rest of the park has other native plants and shrubs including Common Milkweed. Monarch eggs and caterpillars have been found in the park.
Come and learn how to identify the butterflies, bees and other pollinators in the waystation and park, and tips on the best native plants to put into your waystation or butterfly garden.
There will be some monarch caterpillars and possibly butterflies for people to see.
The event is free and children and families are welcome. Registration is not required.
Kiwanis Park is located at 371 Dynasty Drive (enter parking lot off Imperial Drive)
