Have you been wanting to join a bird walk but those early start times are just a tad too early for you? Then this bird & butterfly walk is for you!
Deb Hale is leading a mid-morning bird & butterfly walk in the South Schoolhouse Ridge Battlefield section of the Harpers Ferry National Park.
The walk will last two to three hours and involve about 3 miles of walking through woods and fields, with some hilly terrain.
The group will be looking for birds, butterflies, nesting birds and perhaps some migrants.
Meet at 9:00 a.m. the South Schoolhouse Ridge parking area. From Route 340 west of Harpers Ferry, turn south onto Millville Road (County Route 27) where the outdoor flea market used to be; proceed .6 miles to parking area. If the gate is closed, pull off and park along the road.
Please dress for the weather and bring along drinking water, sunscreen and insect repellant.
This event is open to the public and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend, however registration is strongly encouraged.
Loaner binoculars will be available.
