Join Deana for Nature Journaling!
PVAS Hosts: Deana Thorsell
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required and limited to 12 participants.
Nature journaling is recording your observations, thoughts, and questions about nature using a combination through drawing, writing and numbers. By using all our senses, we begin to see things that we’ve never noticed before, hear new things, feel what is going on around us (feeling the wind or sun upon your face or touching the barks of various trees), to smell our surroundings. We are making connections about our environment, plants and animals around us and recording our thoughts, questions or feelings in your personal journal to grow and learn along the way. Everyone is welcome to join outdoor nature journaling regardless of their journaling experience. Registration is required. Children are welcome with an attending adult.
Visit Stauffer’s Marsh, where we will find wide open wetland views, rolling woodlands along Back Creek, and the meadow in preparation for fall. With something for everyone, we’ll have our eyes open for autumn birds, grasses and wildflowers in seed. Maybe even catch a track or two on the trail.
Come with your nature journal supplies, a chair (if you’d like), and water. We’ll meet near the parking lot to share prompts and say hello, meander the trails walk through the trees at our own pace, and eventually return again to the same spot to add details to our work and share inspiration.
Whether you’ve been keeping journals for years, or a budding beginner, we welcome you to come out and put pencil to paper in the company of other enthusiasts. Bring your journal, any supplies you prefer, and an open mind to trying new materials and techniques.
