Birds of Virginius Island Bird Walk
Saturday, April 27, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Trip Leader: Deb Hale
Deb Hale is leading a birding trip to the Virginius Island section of the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park as part of the Park’s 75th anniversary.
Step outside onto today’s nature-filled Virginius Island for a bird-watching hike. Bring your binoculars and see if you can spy a few of the 170 bird species of Harpers Ferry as you follow trails that weave past factory ruins and canals.
Registration is required and limited to 30 participants. Please call Autumn Cook 304-535-2908 to register.
The walk will focus on the riverfront and old canal areas of Virginius Island and Shenandoah Wetlands and take about an hour covering less than one mile. This is an excellent walk for beginners as well as experienced birders. Please meet at Lower Town, The Green.
*The walk is free, however, to access the park, participants are requested to have a park pass or pay the $10 entrance fee.
See the Harpers Ferry National Park Event Posting for this event HERE.
Anyone with an interest is welcome to join the walk, regardless of their birding skills. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Participants should wear sturdy footwear, dress for the prevailing weather conditions, and bring along drinking water.
Binoculars will be provided if needed.
The trip may be canceled or postponed if weather conditions are poor.
For more information contact Deb Hale at 304-535-1528.
