Join Deb Hale on a birding trip to the North Schoolhouse Ridge section of the Harper’s Ferry National Park.
The bird walk is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27 at 8:00 am and will last about two or three hours.
The event is free and anyone with an interest is welcome to come along, regardless of their birding skills. Children are welcome as well.
Participants should meet at the North Schoolhouse Ridge parking area. From Route 340 just west of Harper’s Ferry, turn north on Bakerton Road (Rt 27) and go about three-quarters of a mile to the parking area on the left.
The trip will involve about 2 miles of walking through fields and unpaved roads, along mostly level terrain.
Bird expected to be seen include grassland birds like meadowlarks and sparrows, some early returning migrants, and raptors.
Participants should wear sturdy footwear, dress for the prevailing weather conditions and bring along drinking water.
Binoculars will be available for anyone who needs them.
The trip will be canceled in the event of bad weather. Please register below if you plan to attend. This way we can keep in touch in the case of last-minute changes due to weather or other circumstances.
