Cancelled – Bird Walk at Claymont
Saturday, April 25, 2020 @ 7:00 am
This bird walk has been cancelled in our effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Trip Leader: Joette Borzik
Meeting Location: Mansion entrance road, where a wetland meets the access driveway (please note: this is a different location than the Big Barn entrance road). Park in the parking area before the gate.
Open to anyone with an interest. Free of charge, but registration is required; please register below.
Join Joette Borzik for a bird walk at the historic Claymont Mansion property!
Joette will lead a 3-mile walk looking for early migrants passing through our area, in addition to our summer breeding residents. Bird song is expected to be glorious!
The walk will last about two-three hours, but participants should feel free to depart at any time.
The entrance to the historic Claymont Mansion is located at 667 Huyett Road and is marked by a street sign that says “Claymont Mansion”. From Charles Town, take 340 South towards Berryville for approximately 4 miles. Take the exit labeled Augustine Avenue (on right). Then take an immediate left onto Huyett Rd. and go 1.8 miles. You will then see the Claymont entrance road.
Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring water, a snack, insect repellent, and sunblock. Binoculars will be available for use at the walk.
For further information, please feel free to contact Krista Hawley at adultprograms@potomacuaudbon.org or 681-252-1387.
