PVMN Continuing Education Eligible
The Ceramic Tile Carving Workshop is open to the public, however, registration is required. Please register below. All materials will be provided and costs covered through the registration fee.
Come to Cool Spring Preserve with some of your favorite things in mind (or join the field journal group before class) and carve a bit of the natural world into a 4.5” tile with guidance by Joy Bridy.
Whether your imagination is captured by the curving limbs of a walnut tree, winter birds at the feeder, or an image from a book (or your sketchbook), you’ll be able to draw it on a stoneware tile and carve it with hand tools. Joy will glaze and fire the tiles in her kiln, and return them to Cool Spring for pick-up when they are complete.
Joy Bridy is a Master Naturalist and ceramic artist that saunters around the crossroads of art and nature. With a deep sense of connection to handmade and home grown, she spends her time making and teaching in her studio and community spaces, networking with the larger community of artists and naturalists, and walking and hiking the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers with her pooch…creating the balance between studio work and community celebration that she loves best.
If you have questions, please contact Adult Programs Coordinator, Krista Hawley at adultprograms@potomacaudubon.org. Or, call the Cool Spring office at 681-252-1387.
