Wednesday, December 12, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Trip Leader: Deb Hale
This event is free and open to the public, however registration is encouraged. Please register below.
Join Deb Hale as she welcomes winter with her 6th Annual ‘Souper’ Bird Walk through Harpers Ferry.
This year’s walk will be a Souper-duper Looper. The 4-mile walk will wind through the streets of Bolivar, National Park and Harpers Ferry town, starting at The Jackson Rose B&B at 9 am and ending there with a soup lunch.
Plenty of parking is available (address is 1167 W. Washington St., Harpers Ferry). The walk is expected to last about 3 hours.
Birds expected to be seen: winter arrivals, including wrens and kinglets and juncoes, sparrows and finches, waterfowl and raptors along the rivers.
Registration is strongly encouraged, however there is no fee and anyone with an interest is welcome to come along, regardless of their birding skills. Children will be welcome.
Participants should bring drinking water and dress appropriately for the prevailing weather conditions, expecting it to be chilly. Sturdy walking shoes or boots are recommended. Terrain includes a couple of steep hills.
The trip will be canceled in the case of severe weather.
The Society will provide binoculars for those who do not have their own.
For those that are able, Deb has extended a gracious invitation to a light lunch at her house following the walk. Please feel free to join her as she takes a step back from the busy holiday season to enjoy time with fellow birders and friends.
