In collaboration with the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle, PVAS will be hosting the Day of Caring at Cool Spring Nature Preserve!
The focus of this year will be on outdoor makeover for the historic Thornton Cottage. This will include deck demolition, removal of an old chicken coop, and lots of yard clean-up. Our plan is to turn the Cottage yard into a demonstration area for our Wildlife Habitat program!
Everyone is welcome! No experience is necessary. If you have a little energy and interest we have a task for you!
Lunch is provided (with vegan options) but you are welcome to pack your own food. Please bring a refillable water bottle as we have extra water for refills during the day. Other items you may want to bring include bug spray, sunscreen, long pants, sturdy work shoes, and a hat.
We will have some gloves and tools available, however, if you are willing and able to bring your own, please do. Necessary tools will include battery-powered chainsaws and weed whackers, hand clippers, loppers, and hammers (Just please make sure they are marked with your name.)
Can’t volunteer? Consider making a donation towards the supplies necessary to complete the projects!
