Join the Potomac Valley Audubon Society on Wednesday, May 10th at 7:00 PM for our regular monthly program.

Dr. Larry Stitch, retired U.S. Forest Service national botanist, will present a program on Wildflowers of the Eastern Panhandle.

Topics to be discussed are:

  • An introduction to some of the common spring wildflowers found in the eastern panhandle
  • Habitats where they may be found
  • Bits and pieces of interesting natural history of some of the wildflowers

This program is free and everyone is welcome to attend. 

Dr. Larry Stitch recently retired from the U.S. Forest Service where he worked as a botanist for 30 years. He is an expert in native plant identification, propagation, and gardening with native plants. He is also an expert in pollination ecology and recently served as staff to President Obama's Pollinator Health Task Force where he helped author the National Strategy to Promote the Health of Honey Beens and Other Pollinators and Pollinator Friendly Best Management Practices for Federal Lands. In addition, he has served on the Federal Interagency Monarch High Level Working Group.

From WV Route 9, take the Short Road exit. If traveling east, take a left off the exit. If traveling west, take a right off the exit. Follow to the stop light at Sheetz.  Turn right. Take the next left across from Food Lion onto Hospice Lane. Follow the road back.

The office will be on your left (the inpatient facility will be on your right). The door to enter for the PVAS Program is to the right of the main office door. We will have a sign on the door.
