Interested in learning about Honeybees? Honey? Beekeeping? Join us for this fascinating field trip to a local Apiary.

The beginning of May is an excellent time to visit as the bees are very active in the observation hive.  Enjoy honey taste testing as well as:

  • Learn bee biology and social organization of the hive
  • How bees collect their food (pollen & honey)
  • Different honey varieties
  • Learn how honey is extracted
  • Learn about raw honey and its benefits
  • Different problems facing honeybees explained
  • Learn why honeybees are important to us
  • Learn how you can help honeybees
  • Tips to becoming a beekeeper

This field trip is open to the public and children are welcome however registration is required. 

The trip will take place rain or shine as weather is not a factor.

Directions to Eversweet Apiaries:

From Shepherdstown take Hwy 480 (Kearneysville Pike) towards Kearneysville. Take the first right after crossing Hwy 115 (the old Rt. 9) onto Bitner Lane. Take a left onto Everhart Drive. Eversweet Apiaries will be on your left.
